Mid-Century Madness: 3 Steps to Your Favorite Retro Home Style
Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong time period. Example: I love the Mid-Century vibe. If you’re like me and inspired by the amazing 1960’s styles of Mad Men and obsessing over Mid-Century Modern Pinterest boards, here are some easy, “why didn’t I think of that” ways to bring your madness for Mid-Century into your everyday life.
1. Start With Mid-Century Staples
You want to find those core furniture pieces that scream retro. My personal favorites would have to be the chairs. I mean, come on—how cute, fun, and comfy do these chairs look? Button-tufted backs and flared legs (often wooden) are trademarks of Mid-Century chairs.
Pick any core piece of furniture to center your Mid-Century Modern room around. The sky—er, ceiling—is the limit!
2. Bolden the Look With Brights
Adding bright, vibrant colors to your current decor is a great solution to getting the look without breaking the bank. Check out Olivia’s 1960s-inspired living room that she shared with us on Instagram.
3. Finish With Spiffy, Shiny Shapes
Whether you’re building your room from the ground up or just adding to your foundation, no one can deny the incredible shapes and bold metals that Mid-Century Modern style highlights. Lighting is essential, so this is a great tool to bridge the practical with your preferred time period. Like the other pieces above, they use clean lines.
