Too much stuff. Not enough space. Sound like the story of your life?
You’ve pitched or donated what you don’t use anymore, but it still seems like your closet never has enough room. Well, rest assured you don’t have to move into a bigger house or apartment to solve space issues because you have more storage options than your closet. Here are a few our favorite space-saving solutions…
Shelves, Bookcases, and Cabinets
Shelves are classic go-to storage for items like books and files. They don’t have to be the standard wall shelves either. Keep an eye out for furniture pieces that incorporate shelving into your home office, living room, bathroom, and other rooms without the additional bulk. Cabinets are a great option if you prefer to keep items out of sight.
Seats with Secrets
Ottomans and benches have awesome perks. They can be used as extra seating or a comfy spot to prop your feet, but many also open to reveal storage handy for blankets, shoes, and anything else you don’t need every day. Try storage ottomans and benches with serving trays if you love hosting guests.
Catching Zzz’s With Storage, Please
Storage beds are an awesome way of freeing up a bedroom or linen closet to be used for something else. They are also a great way to eliminate a dresser or even create more space for - that’s right! – more clothes. If you’re ever in need for another pillow or blanket in the middle of the night, you wouldn’t even have to get out of bed.
Kitchen & Dining Organization
If you need to make more space in your kitchen or dining area, try finding classic pieces with built-in storage or unique problem-solvers that will keep you organized.
- If you don't have a kitchen pantry or yours is too small, create one with a kitchen cupboard or bar cabinet placed in a corner or narrow space between kitchen counters
- Wish you had more counter space? Try a kitchen island with drawers, cabinets, shelves, a wine rack, or drop-down leaves. These super-functional pieces can also double as kitchen tables
- Even the traditional dining room can deliver more storage than you might expect with under-table shelves, a tall china cabinet, or a sideboard/server/buffet (whichever term you prefer)
